Hertz Partners with Amazon Autos to Sell Used Fleet Vehicles Online
Hertz Global Holdings (HTZ) shares accelerated more than 6% after announcing a strategic partnership with Amazon's automotive division. The rental car giant will list thousands of used fleet vehicles on Amazon Autos, marking the platform's first fleet dealer collaboration.
The initiative launches in four major U.S. metro areas - Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle - with plans to expand nationwide across Hertz's 45 sales locations. Customers can complete entire transactions digitally, from browsing Ford (F) and Toyota (TM) models to arranging financing, with local pickup options.
This deal represents Amazon's second major automotive play following last year's Hyundai new-vehicle sales agreement. For Hertz, the MOVE modernizes its remarketing strategy while giving Amazon Autos immediate scale in the used vehicle segment.
